Mrs. Essie Avo Loftis, age 61, died Monday morning, April 30, 1962, in Mt. Clemens, MI. She had been making her home with her son, Jack Loftis of 29129 Galaway, Roseville, MI.
Her body is at Hooper and Huddleston Funeral Home where services will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 with Glenn Killom officiating. Burial in Smellage Cemetery, Boma, Putnam Co., TN.
Mrs. Loftis was the widow of Milton Otis Loftis. She was born in Putnam Co., TN, the daughter of John T. and Mahulda Jane Thompson Jernigan.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Audrey Burton Wallace of Warren, MI, Mrs. Tim Denny of East Detroit, MI; two sons, John Loftis of Route 2, Cookeville, Jack Loftis of Roseville, MI; seven sisters, Mrs. Sallie Boyd and Mrs. Manda Maynard of Baxter, Mrs. Flossie Martin of Mobile, AL, Mrs. Pearl Allison of Detroit, Mrs. Genia Maxwell of Cookeville, Rt. 2, Mrs. Virgie Beard and Mrs. Vinnie Moss both of Chattanooga, TN; 10 grandchildren.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.
