O.S. Long, Merchant Here for 44 Years, Dies
O.S. Long, dry goods merchant in Shenandoah 44 years who retired in 1936, died at midnight Tuesday at the Hand Hospital where he had been a patient since February 3. He had been in ill health since October.

Mrs. Long is also a patient in the hospital, having a broken hip. Mr. and Mrs. Long observed their 55th wedding anniversary February 27, 1945 and their golden wedding anniversary in 1940.

He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. A. N. Ahlgren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Buntz Funeral Home.

The services will be conducted by the Rev. A. T. Maberry, pastor of the Methodist church assisted by the Rev. Forest Whitlatch, pastor of the Church of Nazarene, who resides at the O. S. Long apartments. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Long were married in Leon, Ia., 56 years ago and came to Shenandoah six months later where he went into business. The Clover Farm store is located at the site where the O.S. Long store was conducted at the time of his retirement.

The Long family has been identified with business and social interests here for many years. The family residence is at the apartment house, 506 South Elm street. Shenandoah Evening Sentinel, February 20, 1946
