MOM
My Mother was one of the most loveable sweet ladies in the world. She was a great cook, she made our clothes, she always canned the fruits, vegetables and meat, so we would have plenty of food for winter. She worked on the farm. She was a farmers daughter and a farmers wife. I remember churning butter with her, making rag rugs, and making ice cream in the old ice cream churn. She made her own soap, and made the best dill pickles. She knew how to do anything. Mother was a primary teacher, A 4-H leader for many years.
My dad died when my mother was 45 years old. She never remarried, but made sure that her 3 children that were still at home were taken care of. She continued to take care of the farm and the home. In later years Mother
made hundreds of beautiful quilts and pillows and gave them to family and friends. My Mother would help anyone who needed help and never expected anything in return, only our Love. She was the greatest Mom in the world. We all love and Miss you Mom.
In Mothers later years when she could not walk well. She walked with two canes, but she never let a weed get past her. She would walk with one cane and a hoe in the other hand. And she would stop and chop the weeds on her way around the upper yard. It got too hard for her to take care of the lower yard and the orchard. I think that really made her feel bad. She had worked on the farm for so many years that it was part of her. We also raised 350 bushes of Dewberries, which were harvested and sold, until Mother could no longer take care of them. When my brother took out the patch, he left a few on each side of the patch so Mother could go up and pick a few berries. It was the end of an era for our family. Oh the memories we have of our family farm and our sweet Mother.
My Mother instilled in me the love of taking care of the family cemeteries. She would walk me through on Memorial Day and point out relative after relative. She loved to decorate the graves beautifully. I ended up doing the same to my children. So they would know the ones passed on and now with two of my boys gone. It is up to my daughter to keep up the tradition when I am gone. Thank you Mom for everything. I miss and Love you.

Born Febuary 9, 1910 in Lovell, Wyoming to Judson L. and Pauline Hatch Tolman. Married Eugene Smith, August 14,1930. Marraige later solemnized in the Jordan River LDS Temple. He preceded her in death in 1955.
She was a Primary Teacher, 4-H Leader, homemaker and helped on the family farm. She was well known for her beautiful quilts that she made for everyone, and the Dewberries that she raised and sold.
Survived by sons and daughters, Eugene T. and Julie Smith, Nolan G. and Kay Smith, Draper; Dorothy and Larry Allgood, Kearns; Esther and Don Kinder, West Jordan; brothers and sisters, Ralph and Betty Tolman, Ruth and Albert Hardcastle, Sandy; Alice Broomhead, Alpine; Beatrice Coyner, St. George; 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, Preceded in death by a son, Douglas T. Smith, four grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday 11 a.m. at the Draper Second Ward 1617 East 12700 So. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 So. 2200 West Riverton, and Monday one hour prior at the church. Interment, Draper cemetery.
