"Mrs. Frances Southard, pioneer Walnut Creek resident, died in County Hospital yesterday following a prolonged illness. She was 80.

Mrs. Southard is survived by her husband, Edward. A native of Oregon, she had lived in the Walnut Creek area for 54 years.

Funeral services are being arranged at Guy and Blackwell Chapel."
