"The New York Journalist has a short notice of the death of Alexander Greer at Martinez not long since.
Greer was one of California's pioneer newspaper men.
Selma people will remember him as the little old man that played the violin for dances at the saloons last winter."

Alexander's grave was marked at one time. It is unknown if the marker was stolen or lost to the fire that swept through the cemetery.
