"Mrs. Matilda Greer, wife of J. B. Greer Sr., died in Alameda on Monday at the age of 74 years. The funeral was held in Martine yesterday."

"The death occurred last Monday of Mrs. Matilda J. Greer, at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Cunningham on San Antonio Avenue, between Gran and Union Streets. An attack of paralysis was a direct cause of her death, although she had reached the ripe age of 74, within a few days. Deceased was the wife of J. B. Greer Sr., and a native of Virginia. The remains were removed to the Martine Cemetery for interment."

At one time there was a headstone for Matilda which read Mrs. Greer, sadly, it has disappeared. Perhaps it was made of wood and was one of the markers that was lost to the fire that swept through this cemetery.
