25 OCTOBER 1954
FRANK HEENAN Funeral services for Frank Heenan, 75, 109 North 10th St., former Boyd County sheriff, who died Thursday, were conducted Monday morning in Sacred Heart church by Msgr. Robert P. Burns, pastor. Burial was in Prospect Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were: Dan Hoien, Ronald Braithwaite, Lyle Scheer, Vere Wilson, Chester Hamerlun, and Ed Weber. Mr. Heenan was born June 25, 1875, in Kentucky, and had been a resident fo Nebraska since he was 6 years old. He served as deputy sheriff of Boyd County 17 years before being elected sheriff in 1918. After serving as sheriff eight years, he moved to Spencer where he was town marshall and custodian of the schools until 1947. He retired that year and moved to Norfolk. Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Hal Croghan of Chicago, Mrs. Howard Braithwaite of Norfolk, and Mrs. Jack Houston of Vero Beach, Florida; two sons, John and Hal Heenan of Omaha; a number of grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs.Margaret McCarthy of Tilden, Miss Helen Heenan of Omaha, Mrs. Elizabeth Bolton of San Francisco, and Mrs. Mary Graham of O'Neill.
