Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Romine, 70 years of age, were held Thursday afternoon from the Asbury church with the Rev. F. A. Sanders in charge. Burial was in the Griffin cemetery. Mrs. Romine died at the home on Route Five Wednesday at 4 a.m. following an illness of several days. Mrs. Romine, a native of Kentucky, was a member of the Methodist church. She was the daughter of Joel T. Lee and Sarah Howard. Surviving besides her husband are four brothers and sisters: Mrs. Sarah M. Gaines and Mrs. J. L. Lancaster, Tom and George Lee, all of the county. She also leaves an adopted son, E. L. Barnett, Elizabethtown, Route Four. The pallbearers were: Harvey Romine, Robert Romine, Roy Lee, Lee Gaines, Richard Gaines, and Wilburn Barnett. Flower girls were: Marjorie Bowen, Gene Bowen, Helen Sanders, Ruth Gore, Margaret Rafferty, and Vaniel Romine. ~The News-Journal, Thursday, August 16, 1945
