Mrs. Sarah Mildred Howard Lee died at her home in this county near Green River, Saturday, August 13. She was the daughter of the late Pleas. and Katherine Howard, of this county, and was eighty-eight years, five months, and fifteen days old at the time of her death. She was married to Joel T. Lee, September 24, 1868, and eight children were born to their union. Her husband and two children having preceded her to the grave several years ago. She is survived by six children, Mrs. J.W. Romine, Mrs. A.P. Gaines, Mrs. J.L. Lancaster; Messrs. W.P. Lee, J.S. Lee, and G.H. Lee, all of this county. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

The deceased professed faith in Christ in early life and united with the Methodist Church at Souls Chapel, of which she remained a faithful and consistent member until her death. She had faithfully filled all of the duties in every station in life; was a devoted Christian woman, a faithful, kind, and loving wife and mother, and a loyal and helpful neighbor and friend, and had surrounded herself with a large number of loving friends in the community in which she had spent her long and useful life, and was beloved by all who knew her. Funeral services were held from this home Sunday afternoon at 3:30, conducted by interment in the family cemetery (News Journal, Aug 18, 1932).
