Mildred Wells Weatherford, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001. She was born July 17, 1922, in Heidelburg, Miss. She was a former employee of Joy's Furniture Store and a retired secretary, with 17 years of service, at First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge. She was a charter member of Crosspoint Baptist Church, Baton Rouge.

Visitation was at Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting in the funeral home chapel from 9 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Don Pucik. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.

Survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Charles A. and Virginia Weatherford, Tallahassee, Fla., John H. and Wanice Weatherford, Hueytown, Ala., Richard D. and JoAnn Weatherford, Tulsa, Okla., and Stephen D. and Kim Weatherford, Baton Rouge; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janet W. and William G. "Glenn" Tate, Barbara W. and Roland L. "Buddy" Flake and Pamela W. and Kevin B. Clark, all of Baton Rouge; 15 grandchildren and spouses, Lori and Alexander "Andy" Yi, Houston, Jennifer and Tim Arceneaux, Stephanie and Tien Nguyen, Kelly Tate, Kristi L. Clark, Heather L. Flake and Kaci M. Clark, all of Baton Rouge, Jessica L. West, Natchitoches, Jason P. Weatherford and Aaron M. Weatherford, both of Hueytown, Brian C. Weatherford and Michael J. Weatherford, both of Tulsa, Robert Hawkins of California, John Hawkins and Solange Hawkins, both of Germany; two great-grandsons, Taylor S. Arceneaux, Baton Rouge, and John Hawkins, Germany; four great-granddaughters, Jessica, Jennifer and Jeannie Hawkins, all of California, and Julia Hawkins, Germany; three brothers, Zeno Wells, Herman Douglas Wells and Norman Glen Wells; and three sisters, Cleota Albritton, Roma Ree Pope and Vera Gatewood.

Preceded in death by Charles W. Weatherford, her husband of 50 years; Albert and Addie Wells, parents; Onous Wells, Ulysses Wells, Vardeman Wells, Otho Wells and Lewis Wells, brothers; and Allyson N. Flake, granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be sons-in-law and grandsons-in-law. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crosspoint Baptist Building Fund.
