VERA ELIZABETH GATEWOOD: age 91, of Dallas, Texas passed away on 3/14/2012. She was born on 6/13/1920 in Newton, Mississippi to her parents, Pinkney and Addie Mariam.
She was a pastor's wife for over 50 years serving with A.L. in churches in Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas.
She then worked in social work with Buckner Children's Home in Dallas and Lubbock. After retiring in 1985, Vera and A.L. moved to the Dallas area and became active members of The Heights Baptist Church, where she taught the Hope Sunday School class for 15 years.
Vera will be remembered as a strong Christian, wonderful wife, loving mother and exceptional grandmother.

Preceded in death by loving husband of 61 years, A.L.; beloved son, W.H. Gatewood; beloved daughter, Carole Jones; 3 sisters and 7 brothers.

She is survived by daughter, Judith and her husband Kert Moore; daughter-in-law, Jackie Gatewood; son-in-law, George Jones; grandchildren, Justin Gatewood, Corey Gatewood and his wife Lindsey, Teresa Grundstrom and her husband Glenn, Kevin Jones and his wife Lexie, Evan and Natalie Moore; great-grandchildren, Austin and Lilah Gatewood, Michelle and Allison Grundstrom, Allen Jones; and brother, H.D. Wells.

Services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 23rd, at Heights Baptist Church, 201 W. Renner Rd. in Dallas.
