Ellen M. Baker, 90, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, Dec. 24, at Pella Community Hospital in Pella.
Services were held 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oskaloosa, Father Robert Busher presiding. Interment : St. Joseph Cemetery near Edina, Mo. Memorials in her name. Garland-Van Arkal-Langkamp Funeral Home in Oskaloosa was in charge of arrangements.
Ellen M. Baker was born Feb. 17, 1908, in Knox County, Mo., to Otto A. and Mary G. Costello Alber. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in Edina, Mo. She then attended Kirksville Teachers College in Kirksville, MO. She taught at Ireland School hear Edina. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oskaloosa.
Survivors include her husband: Lloyd Baker of Oskaloosa; two sons and their wives: Donald L. and Angie Baker of Albia, and Lawrence F. and DeVee Baker of Harvey; two daughters and their husbands: Lucille M. and Roy Bills of Pella, and Helen L. and Andrew Foster of Oskaloosa; 25 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Regina Swan of Kansas City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson; Michael Baker; two great-grandchildren: Joshua Dugger and Rebecca Bills; and four brothers: Louis, John, Otto, and George Alber.
