Regina Cecelia Swann, 91, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Edina, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2002, at the Liberty Terrace in Liberty, Missouri.

She was born August 25, 1910, in Edina, Missouri, the daughter of Otto A. and Mary Gertrude Costello Alber.

Regina attended the St. Joseph School in Edina, Missouri and the American Correspondence School.

On September 6, 1926, in Edina, Missouri, Regina married Bert Gordon Swann and he preceded her in death on February 22, 1966.

Regina and her husband lived all her life in Knox County until October 1996 when she moved to Kansas City, Missouri to live with her daughter Hazel. She worked at Knox Co. Library in Edina for several years and was also a teacher's aide at the Edina Elementary and Knox County High Schools. Regina had also worked as a housekeeper for Mrs. Ruth Smith and Mrs. Evelyn Cottey.

She enjoyed gardening and cared for her flowers, she enjoyed sewing and had made many quilts one of which took a blue ribbon at the county fair. She especially loved the time spent with her family.

Regina was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Edina, Missouri, the St. Ann's Altar Society, the Knox County Historical Society, Harmony Extension Club, and the Business Women's Club, all of Edina, Missouri.

She is survived by a son: Robert P. and his wife Erma Swann of Independence, Missouri; two daughters: Hazel Binkley and Kathleen M. and her husband Eugene Desaulniers both of Kansas City, Missouri; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers: Louis, Otto, John and George Alber; one sister: Ellen Baker and a son-in-law: Paul S. Binkley.

Interment: St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Edina, Missouri.

She bought the house of her Aunt Ann and Annie in Edina MO. I believe that house had formerly been the house of Louis Alber, husband of Mary Johanna Schmid. The white frame house was adjacent, down the hill from a newer house built by Louis and Thelma Alber in Edina, MO.
