GEORGE WHITTEN
George Whitten was born in Phillips County, Kansas, December 10, 1906, the son of Levi and Ada Baker Whitten. He died June 30, 1983 in Lapeer, Mich.
He lived his early years in Phillips County, moving to Michigan in 1933.
He was married to Hazel Gipe in 1929 and she died in 1931. In 1935, He was married to Margery Matteson. They moved to Michigan the following year and spent the rest of his life there.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his only son, Bill J.; and a brother, Waldo.
Surviving are his wife, Margery; his daughter, Mrs. James (Ruth) Elliott; three grandchildren, Mrs. Kim (Laurie)Coulter, James and Lynn Elliott, all of Lapeer; one sister, Burdell Uplinger of Buffalo, Mo.; one brother, Neal of Minden, Nebr.; one sister-in-law, Irene Whitten of Alma; many nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Lapeer, Mich.
