FEB 21, 1912 - MARCH 9, 1997
Funeral services for Eunice Uplinger will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday) in the Cantlon Chapel with the Rev. Bob Clyde officiating. Sandy Hatfield will provide the music service, accompanied by Carla French, organist.
Escorts will be Hadley Thomas, Bob Howerton, Everett Durrington, Ray Patterson and Howard Patterson. Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens of Memory under the direction of the Cantlon Funeral Home of Buffalo.
Eunice Burdell Uplinger, daughter of the late Levi and Ada (Baker) Whitten, was born in Glade, Kan., on Feb. 21, 1912 and died March 9, 1997 in the Citizen's Memorial Hospital, Bolivar. She was at the time of her death, 85 years,21 days of age.
She was reared in Alma, Neb., and then went to work for the Cudahy Packing Company, where she worked for 17 years. She was united in marriage to Lewis Uplinger on Oct. 21, 1937 in Phillipsburg, Kan. The home was blessed by one son, who survives her.
The family lived in Alma before moving to Buffalo in 1950. Here she worked for the Buffalo Courts for 11 years.
Eunice was a member of the Alma Methodist Church, the Ladies Auxillary of the DAV Chapter 62.
She loved animals, particularly dogs, cats and horses.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, George, Waldo and Neal Whitten.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis, of the home. one son and daughter-in-law, Larry DeWayne and Janet Whitten of Millsboro, Del.; three grandchildren and one great grand child. Also a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends who will all sadly miss her.
