MRS. ADA N. WHITTEN PASSED AWAY FRIDAY
Mrs. Ada N. Whitten, a long time resident of the Alma community, passed away Friday, November 2nd at the Memorial Hospital in this city. Funeral services were held at the Zulauf Chapel, Monday afternoon, November 5 at 2 o'clock with Rev. Phillip Bede, pastor of the Methodist church officiating and burial was in the Alma cemetery.
Born March 9, 1880 near Wesley, Iowa, the deceased spent her early life in that community. In 1904, she was united in marriage to Levi Whitten, and for the past many years had resided in Alma. She leaves to mourn her passing three sons, a daughter, other relatives and many friends.
During her residence in Alma, Mrs. Whitten won the respect of all who had the pleasure of making her acquaintance, and her passing will be mourned, not only by her family, but her many friends as well. An obituary will be found in this issue of the Journal.

Obituary: Ada Nancy Whitten
Ada Nancy Whitten, daughter of George and Sara Baker, was born March 9, 1880 near Wesley, Iowa and passed away November 2, 1962 at the Alma Hospital.
During her early life she resided in several localities in the midwest. She was united in marriage in 1904 to Levi Whitten and to this union were born three sons and one daughter. Mrs. Whitten was preceded in death by two sisters, two grandsons and her husband in 1950. She is survived by her children, George of Metamora, Michigan; Waldo of Alma; Neal of Minden and her daughter, Burdell Uplinger of Buffalo, Missouri. There are eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Whitten had been a member of the Methodist Church all her life.
Funeral services were held at the Zulauf Chapel, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Phillip Bede officiating. Mrs. Allen Parker and Mrs L.J. Merideth were vocalists, accompanied by Mrs. G.E. Stoddard. Burial was in the Alma cemetery. The Zulauf-Banta Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
