Marvin "Dud" Elmore, 59, of 1747 Delmar Ave., ill for several years, died at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1986, at Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis County. He was hospitalized for two days.

Marvin Leroy Elmore was the son of John "Jack" Frederick Francis Elmore and Mabel Margaret Sophia Niepert Elmore, who preceded him in death. He was married to Rosetta May Nelson Elmore; they were later divorced.

A lifelong resident of Granite City, Mr. Elmore worked at Granite City Steel for 33 years as a millwright and retired in 1980.

Mr. Elmore served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1300, American Legion Post 113 and the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include three daughters and one son, all of Missouri; two brothers, Ruthel "Rudy" Elmore and Richard Elmore, and two sisters, Mrs. Curtis (Juanita) Blevins and Mrs. Florence Hagnauer, all of Granite City.

He was preceded in death by another brother, Frederick "Fritz" Elmore.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m,, January 9, at Mercer Mortuary, 1416 Niedringhaus Ave. The Rev. Carl Watkins will officiate at services Friday, Jan. 10, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery, 2901 Nameoki Road. Memorials are requested for the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
