John Elmore, 77, Dies; Resident Here 60 Years

John "Jack" Elmore, 77, of 1708 Kirkpatrick Homes, a local resident 60 years, succumbed to a brief illness at 6:05 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he had been a patient one week.

A veteran of world war I, Mr. Elmore was a native of Coffeen, Ill. Before retirement several years ago, he was employed as a truck helper at Union Starch & Refining Co. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1300 and Veterans of World 1 Barracks 34.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rose (Heistand) Elmore; two daughters, Mrs. Curtis (Juanita) Blevins and Mrs. Edward (Florence) Hagnauer, both of Granite City; four sons, Ruthel, Marvin, Fred and Richard Elmore, all of Granite City; 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today at a Granite City funeral home. Arrangements are given elsewhere in this issue.

Funeral services held at 1 p.m. today, July 24, at MERCER MORTUARY Chapel, 1416 Niedringhaus avenue. Interment St. John's Cemetery, 2901 Nameoki road.
