Rosetta May Nelson was born November 27, 1922 near Hayden, Missouri, to Tade Nelson and Martha May Roberson Nelson. She married Willis Clifford Christian on September 30, 1938, with whom she bore two children and married Marvin Leroy Elmore on August 5, 1949, with whom she bore four children. She lived much of her early adult life in Granite City, Illinois, and the latter portion in Maries and Phelps counties, Missouri. Ms. Elmore was a tailor, an accomplished musician and poet, an amazing cook, a gardener and a lifelong feminist.

Survivors included her six children, their spouses, and her grandchildren. In addition she was survived by her sister Olive Joyner of Granite City, Illinois, her niece Lynn Mefford and nephew Robert Nelson, their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Frank Nelson.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Salvation Army.
