Martin Roswold was born February 24, 1885 in Urness township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sievert Roswold. He was baptized by Rev. Stadstad and was confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran church at Evansville, Minnesota by Rev. T. A. Sattre. Except for about three years which he spent in North Dakota, his entire life was spent in this community. Since then he has resided on a farm in southwest Evansville township. On Wednesday noon of this past week Martin was seriously injured in a tractor accident on his farm. He was rushed to Wright's Memorial hospital at Fergus Falls where as a result of his injuries he passed away early Friday morning, May 2, at the age of 56 years, 2 months and 8 days. He is survived by two brothers, Albert of Brandon and Willie of Evansville, and three sisters, (Ricka) Mrs. C. J. Richards of Temple City, California, (Ida) Mrs. Albertson and Clara Roswold, both of Evansville. Also one half sister, Mrs. Theodore Thompson of Garfield and 10 nephews and 11 nieces.
These immediate relatives together with a host of friends mourn his passing. His parents and two sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 in the Willie Roswold home and at 2:00 at the West Urness church with Rev. H. B. Raun officiating. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: Francis, Albert, Adrian and Orville Roswold, Sam and Martin Thompson and Orean Thompson. The body was laid to rest in the church cemetery.
