Mrs. Beret Anna Thompson passed away Friday afternoon, June 19, 1941 at her farm home in Brandon township where she has resided for the past 58 years. Mrs. Thompson has been in failing health for the past ten years. She was born in Vardalen, Norway Nov. 10, 1864 and was at the time of her death 76 years, seven months and 9 days old. In 1873 she came to America with her stepmother, her father having gone the year previous. They joined him at Calumet, Mich., where they resided until 1876 when they came to Douglas county and settled on a farm in Urness township. She was confirmed at the West Moe church in 1880 by the late Rev. A. S. Stadstad. On January 16, 1883 she was married to Theo. Thompson of Brandon township. Five children were born to this union, all of them live to mourn the loss of a loving mother. Ranghilda and Sam live on the home place; (Ida) Mrs. Anton Larson of Wildrose, N.D.; (Tina) Mrs. Thos. Wibstad of Alexandria and Martin on a farm near the home place. Her husband passed away 3 1/2 years ago. There are nine grandchildren, also two half brothers, Albert Roswold of Brandon, Willie on the home place in Urness township; half sisters: Mrs. Ida Alberts and Clara Roswold of Urness and Mrs. C. J. Richards of Los Angeles, Calif. Her mother, a brother and sister passed away in Norway and her father, stepmother, three half sisters and two half brothers passed away several years ago, and a half brother Martin passed away in May this year.
