Mary E., daughter of the Rev. Sam'l S and Elizabeth Branch, moved to Wayne county Illinois with her parents and most of his Freewill Baptist congregation from Meigs Co Ohio in 1853. Mary married James L. Moore 1 Dec 1859, and they moved about 200 miles away to near Glasgow in Scott County Illinois. The next year, in the winter, Mary apparently died in childbirth. How sad to think of being so young and that far from home on the frontier at a time when you need your mother so much.
