Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. yesterday for Mrs. Eddie Caruthers, a resident of Greenwood for the past 40 years.
Mrs. Caruthers, who was 78, died Thursday afternoon at the Golden Age Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. .She was born in Carrollton and lived in Yazoo City before moving here 40 years ago.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Services were held at the Wilson and Knight Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Charles Ray, pastor of the North Greenwood Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City.
Mrs. Caruthers is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Cecil Boland of Minter City; two sons, Clifton Caruthers of Greenwood and Jack Caruthers of Memphis; a sister Mrs. W. D. Hughes of Greenwood; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Bill Murphree, L. E. Rowland, James Hargrove, Pershing Chassaniol, Wayne Shurtleff, and Flowers Williams.
