William L. Caruthers Dies At 39

William Lynn Caruthers, a native of Greenwood, died in a Vicksburg Hospital yesterday following a heart attack. He was 39.

Mr. Caruthers was district clerk for Mississippi Power and Light Co. He had lived in Greenville for a short time after he left Greenwood and had been a resident of Vicksburg for the past three years.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served three years with the Army Medical Corps.

Services will be held at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home Chapel at 4 p.m. tomorrow with the Rev. J. R. Nanney and the Rev. Dr. Charles Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Mr. Caruthers leaves his wife, Mrs. Jacqueline Caruthers, formerly of Itta Bena, two sons*, William L. Jr., and Charles A. Caruthers, all of Vicksburg; two brothers, Clifton Caruthers of Greenwood and Jack Caruthers of Memphis; a sister, Mrs. Ann Boland of Money and his mother, Mrs. H. Y. Caruthers of Greenwood.

Pallbearers will be Paul Beacham, Bob Pendergrass, Guy Green, Jimmy Cox, Jack Spradling, Joe Arnold, Norman Kenwright, and D. K. Brewer.

*His wife was pregnant with his third son Stephen when Billy died.
