Because of some steering wheel trouble young Jackson lost control of his car and ran into a tree, causing the car to turn over several times. A companion, Jack Thrower was also injured and died the following night. A third companion, Doc Martin, was only slightly injured.
Mr. Jackson was the son of Mr and Mrs. E. L. Jackson, Sr of Route 2, Altoona, and was reared in Blount County. He attended school at Susan Moore, and spent three years in the Navy being discharged in November 1945. At the time of his death, he was employed at the North Alabama Hardware Co., in Gadsden
