T R was a leader in the incorporation of Susan Moore 14 years ago and was mayor from that time until his death. He was instrumental in acquiring a number of grants for the municipality and took great pride in the new town hall community center, the new fire hall, the park , the playing fields, and other signs of progress.
He retired as supervisor of Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Gadsden following 32 years' service. He was a member and past minister of music of Mt Zion Church of God, a past chairman of the Blount County Republican Party and an enthusiastic party worker, and a past member of the Alabama State Health Planning and Development Agency. He served on several committees with the Blount County-Oneonta Chamber of Commerce in his capacity as mayor. A writer of gospel songs, he was a past chairman of the Blount County Singing Convention.

All his children were honored to call him father. It was part of a visit home to gather around the piano and sing. We were taught that music was important to know and to learn and to be a part of the music program in your church. He and mother was always a part of the church program and they taught their children to be a part of music.
We sent him on his way to heaven by singing a song he wrote as we left the church, "I Want To Walk on The Streets of Glory one of These Days." I know he was walking the streets of glory on that day.
Daddy We love you.
