When Elijah was 21 years of age he met and fell in love with Adeline Elizabeth Ridgeway, she was only 16 years of age. They were married 18 November 1900, Blount County, AL.As the story was told in the family each of their eight children was born in a different house. While waiting for a house to be built they lived near the Warrior River. They bought about 40 acres and built the house where they lived the remainder of their lives. The house is still standing today. (2012) Elijah passed away at the age of 84 years. Addie lived to be 98 years.
Elijah was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church.
His parents were John J. Jackson and Susan Faulkner. Elijah was the 10th child from a family of 12 children.
He and Addie had eight children, Gertrude Lily, Bernice, Willie May, Theodore Roosevelt, Evelyn Alene, Waltene, E.L.Jr, Imogene Elizabeth.
Many memories were made living in the country and visiting grandpa and grandma.I compiled a book a few years, "The Jacksons, Elijah L & Addie and had the grandchildren to send me a memory of going to grandpa & grandma house. They tell the story of what great grandparents they were.
