ECKHART,MARYLAND — Leslie George Duckworth, 97, of Eckhart, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at his home.

Born May 18, 1911, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late Lawson and Carrie (Nichol) Duckworth. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine E. (Sivic) Duckworth; brothers, Edison Duckworth and Raymond Duckworth; sisters, Corinne Kyle, Evelyn Maynard and Gertrude Morgan.

Mr. Duckworth was previously employed by Detmold Mines, A.B.L., Celanese, Byer Roller Berring, Baughman Construction and the First Presbyterian Church.

He was a member of Eckhart United Methodist Church and Eckhart Square Circle.

He is survived by two daughters, Joanne Culp and husband Terry, at home and Dotty Marrocco, Piney Mountain Road; two brothers, Wallace Duckworth and wife Mary, Baltimore, and Melvin Duckworth and wife Ruth, Eckhart; sisters, Tess Graves and husband Don, Cumberland, and Shirley Jones and husband Glen, Lewisburg, W.Va.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.

Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Anton Urbas, Gary Duckworth, Brian Duckworth, Jason Duckworth, Wayne Stevens and Frank Sivic.
