THOMAS, GLADYS, 85, died May 19, 2012 at her home. A native of Marion County, she was a receiving clerk for Kmart, where she worked for 18 years, and was a former telephone operator for General Telephone & Electric, and a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church. Preceding her in death were her husband Lawrence Thomas; sisters, Florence Bott and Colette Schickel; and a brother, Charles "Pete" Daugherty. Gladys is survived by her son, Larry; daughter, Ellen; a grandson, Jason; brothers, Clifton, L.R., Harold and Joe Paul Daugherty; sister, Cecilia Spalding; and brother-in-law, George Thomas. The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Barnabas Church, 3042 Hikes Lane, with burial to follow at Holy Name of Mary Cemetery, Calvary, KY at 12:45 p.m. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Senior Helpers Nancy Galloway, Pat Conti and Sylvia Johnson as well as Joanie, Elizabeth and the staff of Hosparus, and Ellen Thompson of MD2U. A special thanks goes to Debra "Jeanie" Cox for being such a loving friend. Memorial gifts may be made to Hosparus or to Mass of the Air.
