Ida L. (Sheaffer) Patterson, 85, of Parks Township, passed peacefully Sunday, May 6, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. Born Oct. 1, 1926, in South Bend, she was a daughter of the late Henry Elder and Ida (Boyer) Sheaffer. She was a homemaker and enjoyed musical instruments and playing her guitar for square dances and family gatherings. She also enjoyed gardening, making bread and especially loved spending time with her family and making memories with her grandchildren. We will always be touched by her gracious spirit. Survivors include two daughters, Linda L. White, of Leechburg, and Marsha L. Worling, of Brookville; a brother, Dwayne "Bud" Sheaffer, of Bethel Township; four grandchildren, Devlin, Russell, Marshall and Chad; and seven great-grandchildren, Mason, Issac, Jenna, Blane, Bailey, Lauren and Robert James. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert Patterson; a son, Robert D. Patterson; four brothers, Lisle, William, Edward and Donald; and five sisters, Virginia Cristy, Glennie Mansfield, Mabel Lukehart, Pearl Beck and Esther Glass. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the JANETTE L. GAMBLE FUNERAL HOME INC., 2842 River Road, Vandergrift, PA 15690, 724-567-7006, with Pastor Kevin Ray officiating.
