Clarence Edward Sheaffer, 54, of Parks Twp., died Friday, May 12, 1978, at 8 a.m. in the Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights.
A lifelong resident of the area, he was born Feb. 109, 1924, to the late Henry E. and Ida L. Boyer Sheaffer.
He was a truck driver for Wean United, Vandergrift, where he retired in 1972.
A World War II Air Force veteran, he was a member of Cochran's Mill United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Stewart Sheaffer; three sons, Donald L. of Apollo, Rodney J. and Richard D., both at home; three daughters, Deborah McKendree of Ford City, Connie Long of Lower Burrell, and Lisa, at home; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Lisle of Ford City, Donald of Vandergrift and Dewayne (Bud) of Bethel Twp.; five sisters, Virginia Christy of Southington, Ohio, Glennavie Mansfield of Ford City, Mabel Lukehart, Pearl Beck and Ida L. Patterson, all of Parks Twp., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by son, Clinton, in 1973; a sister, Esther Glass, in 1955; and a brother, William, in 1973.
Friends were received Saturday and Sunday in the Dunmire-Kerr Funeral Home, 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift.
The Rev. Thomas Vernor conducted a service there Monday at 1 p.m.
Burial was in Spring Church Cemetery, Spring Church.
