Isaac Wells, a well known resident of Bigelow
Kansas, passed away at his home on Thursday
March 31, 1955 at the age of 84 years and 1
month.

He was born March 1, 1871 in Bath County,
Kentucky the third child of James and
Marinda Wells.

Ike as he was always know by both family and
friends was one of a family of nine children
and was preceded in death by his parents,
three brothers, John, Tom, and Perry and two
sisters, Sallie Dennis and Alice the youngest
whose death preceded his by only six weeks.

When the family moved from Kentucky to
Kansas, Ike was a young man and was already
sharing in the responsibilities of the home,
when in 1900 they moved to Bigelow, Kansas.

Always of a gentle and humorous and serious
nature, Ike was a friend to everyone, and
especially fond of children, and in return had
the respect and esteem of all who knew him.

In the spring of 1913, upon the death of his
brother Tom, Ike went to the farm home near
Westmoreland where he assumed the care of
their mother. He remained here assisting the
family and in 1916, when they moved into
Westmoreland, he remained on doing carpen-
ter work and odd farm jobs. It was while
doing this carpenter work that an accident
occurred causing him to lose the sight of
one eye.

Though he had not been in very good health
for some years, his last illness was of several
weeks duration and he was confined to his
bed only three days before his death.

Ike’s life has made him many friends, by
whom he will be greatly missed and he
leaves to mourn his passing his sister, Mary
and two brothers, Jack and Henry of the home
two nieces and a nephew.

Funeral services were held at Padden Funeral
Chapel on Saturday, burial was in the family
Cemetery southwest of Frankfort, Kansas.
