Henry Wells age 85 passed away at the
County Rest Home in Marysville, Kansas
Wednesday afternoon, May 9, 1962 following
a heart attack. Although he had been in
failing health for some time his condition
was not considered serious and his death
came as a shock to his relatives and friends.

A native of Kentucky, Mr. Wells came to
Kansas with his parents, brothers and
sisters in 1878 when he was two years old.

The Wells family engaged in farming near
Bigelow until they moved into the town of
Bigelow in 1900 which had since been the
family residence.

Her other member of his family passed away
including his twin brother Jack in 1955
leaving one sister and himself.

Due to the building of Tuttle Creek Dam
and the destruction of his home town, a
relocation became necessary and he and
his sister Mary moved to Marysville,
Kansas to make their home in 1959.

During the early day type of machine
threshing, he and his twin brother
followed the wheat harvesting for many
years in Western Kansas.

In his later years, he devoted his time to
trucking-gardening and helping his
neighbors.

A quiet unassuming personality, Henry or
Hank as he was also known in his home
town of Bigelow, made many friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the
Kinsley Chapel in Marysville, Kansas on
Friday afternoon May 11, 1962 by the
Reverend Gerald Housh of the First
Christian Church.

Burial was in the Wells family cemetery
southwest of Frankfort, Kansas.

Jess Saville, Gerald Pendergast, Alex
Sabin, C.A. Bronaugh, Ray Pillard and
Charles Wells served as pallbearers.
