Marinda Srout was born in Bath county,
Kentucky on June 8, 1846 and died at her
home in Bigelow, Kansas on March 13,
1922 at the age of 75 years, 9 months
and 5 days.
She grew to womanhood in Kentucky and
there on January 10, 1867 was united in
marriage to James Wells. To this union
was born nine children, Perry, Sarah,
Isaac, Thomas, Jackson, Henry, John,
Mary and Alice. Her husband passed away
in 1900. All her children survived her
except Thomas who died in 1911 and John
in 1917.
At the age of thirteen she became a
member of the Christian faith. The last
eight years she was an invalid, and for
the last three tears confined to her bed
practically all the time.
Funeral services were held at the
Christian Church in Bigelow at 11:00 a.m.
on March 15.
Burial was in the Wells Cemetery, west of
Barrett, Kansas with Reverend J.W. Ellis
officiating.
