Rachel Grubaugh was the daughter of Jonathan H. Grubaugh and Henrietta Wallace. She was born in what is now Ashland County, OH. On 24 Sep 1844 she married David Miller in Richland County, OH. They had a least four children - James (1847), Elizabeth (1852), Mary (1854) and George (1858). David died in about 1873 and Rachel never remarried. In the 1900 census, she is listed as an inmate in the Columbus State Hospital. She died in Mansfield, Richland, OH.

"Mrs. Rachel Miller died at the home of Edward McGown 24 Blanche street April 9. She was born in this county June 28, 1826. funeral from Residence of Dr. Baughman on West Fourth street Friday April 10, at 10 a.m., the Rev George U. Preuss officating."
