He was born Nov. 6, 1910, in Knox County, the son of John and Minnie Dawdy Schisler.
He married Kathleen Stocks on Nov. 23, 1932. He married Mabel Gott on Dec. 8, 1972, in Springfield. She died Dec. 31, 1996.
Surviving are one son, Neal Schisler, Knoxville; two stepsons, Wayne Gott, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Roger Gott, Sullivan; three daughters, Elaine Westover and Linda Batson, both of Abingdon, and Donna Mason, Galesburg; four stepdaughters, Beverly Earp, Monmouth, Pauline Miller, Decatur, and Karen Lowery and Sharen Curtis, both of Cameron; one brother, Harold Schisler, in Arizona; one sister, Irene Morris, Berwick; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
He was graduated from Abingdon High School in 1931.
He farmed in the Abingdon area for 40 years, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of Abingdon Christian Church and the former Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 518 in Galesburg.
Funeral will be at 11 A.M. Monday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, Abingdon, with the Rev. Raymond McLaren officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the National Hospice Foundation, the American Cancer Society and Abingdon Christian Church.
