Mr. Avery Hoke, about 60 years of age and formerly a resident of Claremont, was found dead in bed in his bed Thursday morning at his new home in Conover. He died in his sleep some time during the night, and death was attributed to heart failure.
Mr. Hoke, a contractor, had moved with his family from Hickory to Conover Wednesday of this week. He died the first night the family spent in the Conover house.
The deceased is survived by his widow and several children.

Funeral services for Mr. Avery Hoke, who was found dead in his bed Thursday morning in Conover, were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Mt. Calvary Lutheran church with his pastor, Rev. B.M. Sigmon, conducting. Interment followed in the Claremont cemetery.
Mr. Hoke, who was 60 years of age, and a native of Claremont, was found dead Thursday morning by members of the family who had gone to wake him up. Apparently he was in his usual health Wednesday evening when he retired. He complained of no illness. Death was attributed to heart failure.
