Obituary from NEWTON OBSERVER ENTERPRISE, 15 June 1948. MRS. C. SIGMON PASSES SUNDAY.
Mrs. Sarah Catherine Sigmon, seventy-five, of Claremont, died Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Catawba hospital following an illness. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mark's Lutheran church in Claremont with Dr. L. W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Claremont cemetery.
Mrs. Sigmon was the wife of the late Calvin Sigmon, who died ten years ago. She is survived by four sons, W. R. Sigmon, R. A. Sigmon, C. G. Sigmon, and C. M. Sigmon, all of Claremont; five daughers, Miss Effie Sigmon Mrs. C. L. Sigmon, and Mrs. H. D. Fulbright, all of the home, Mrs. R. C. Gilbert of Hickory and Mrs. R. F. Fox of Wilson; one sister, Mrs. J. J. Sigmon of Claremont; one brother, A. J. Hoke of Claremont; twenty-six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was born in this county, April 12, 1873, the daughter of the late George and Sarah Anne Carpenter Hoke.
