GALENA, Kan. Sylvia Emma Walton, age 87, died at 2:56 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2004, at Galena Nursing Center, Galena, following an illness.

Sylvia was born, at Lowell, Kan. She was one of 14 children born to Willie and Dovie (Toler) Adams.

She had lived in Galena all of her life.

She was a member of Empire Mission Church, Galena.

Her interests included cooking, gardening and reading.

She was married to Clyde Boog Walton on Feb. 1, 1971, at Miami, Okla. He died May 10, 1977.

Granny Goose, as she was affectionately called, is survived by one son, Billy James Trigg, Houston, Texas; five daughters, Reba (husband, Guy) Dugan, Galena, Rayma Marez, Galena, Helen (husband, Toby) Ortiz, Albuquerque, N.M., Illa (husband, Tacho) Valdez, Grants N.M., and Margaret (husband, Skip) Russell, Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Lee (wife, Anna Mae) Adams, Galena; one sister, Ruby Ingersoll, Galena; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She also had two special friends she treated as her daughters; Lynne Sturgis, Galena and Peggy Tharp, Blue Jacket, Okla.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, May 3, 2004 at Empire Mission Church, Galena, Kan.

Rev. Bob Winnett and Pastor William Fields will officiate.

Burial will be in Pence Cemetery, rural Baxter Springs.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena.

Memorial contributions may be made to Empire Mission Church.

Notes:
She was married a short time to Avery Lee Slimp before she married Wilber (Bill), there were no children of the marriage.

Son, Billy James Trigg, legally changed his name from Pigg to Trigg.

His uncle, Lee Adams told me that Jimmy didn't like the surname Pigg, so changed it to Trigg. Apparently, he also changed his given names, his name on his obit., Jimmy C. Trigg.
