GALENA, KANSAS: Ruby Ingersoll, age 96, went home Saturday, December 10, 2011. She passed away at 2:58 am, at St John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, MO.
She was born December 17, 1914 in Lowell, KS to Winifred and Dovie (Tolar) Adams.
She was the last of 13 brothers and sisters.
She was a lifelong resident of the Galena area.
She married Melvin Ingersoll on March 30, 1960 in Galena, KS. He passed away July 2, 1987.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Walkenshaw.
She is survived by one son, Bill Walkenshaw and wife, Jane, Galena, KS; three grandchildren, Steve and Diane Walkenshaw, Carl Junction, MO, Sheila Huthsing, Joplin, MO and Kim and Steve Selby, Joplin, MO; 6 great grandchildren, Ty and Erin Walkenshaw, Joplin, MO, Craig Walkenshaw, Lawrence, KS, Dan and Katie Bell, U S Marines, Brook and Ashley Bentley, Joplin, MO, Stevi Selby, Joplin,MO; and great-great-granddaughter, Abigael Ruby Walkenshaw.
Ruby was a homemaker and mother.
Her hobbies and past time were her family and church. She was always there for family and friends.
She was a member of New Hope Assembly, Joplin, MO.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Pastor Bob Winnett will officiate.
Burial will be in Pence Cemetery, rural Baxter Springs, KS.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 pm, Tuesday, December 13 at the funeral home.
