Herman S. Ayers, 84, Martinsville, passed away at 8:19 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin.
He was born on Sunday, May 1, 1927 at Nashville, Indiana, to the late William Bryant and Eva Marie (Mullendore) Ayers.
On March 26, 1948 he married Faye M. (Fleenor) Ayers and she passed away on March 8, 2004. He was retired from Conrail Railroad where he was a conductor.
Survivors are daughters, Sherry Baumann of Greenwood, Donna Petro-Losey of Columbus, Deborah Pershing of Indianapolis, Carla Brown of Nashville, Connie Hardman of Franklin and Valarie Fortner of Martinsville; son, Randall Ayers of Greenwood: sisters, Mona Jean Reed of Sellersburg and Dolly Hardin of Nashville; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012 at Costin Funeral Chapel in Martinsville. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012 and one hour prior to the funeral services.
Entombment will be at Nebo Memorial Park in Martinsville.
