She was born on April 16, 1926, the daughter of William Bryan and Eva (Mount) Ayers.
She was a homemaker and assisted her husband, Rev. J. Wesley Powell in his ministry with the Duncan Community Church in Brown County.
Survivors include two granddaughters, Erica Abshire and Leah Garrison (husband Greg), both of Indianapolis; her daughter-in-law, Joyce Moran of Indianapolis; five great grandchildren, Ian Garrison, Ben Garrison, Jillian Abshire, Jacob Abshire and Megan Abshire, as well as several brothers and sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. J. Wesley Powell, in 2000; one son, James Powell; one grandson, J. Michael Powell, and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 27th, 2008, at Allen Funeral Home, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington. Burial will be at Duncan Cemetery near Knight's Corner in Brown County.
