Funeral services for Mona Jean Reed, 91, New Albany, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg, with burial in Silver Creek Cemetery. She passed away Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at Kindred Rolling Hills Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center, New Albany.

She was born Wednesday, May 14, 1924, in Indianapolis, to the late William Bryant and Eva Marie Ayers.

Survivors are daughter, Carolyn Spurgin Sorg and her husband, John, Sellersburg; son, Jesse Spurgin and his wife, Terry, Chandler, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; along with seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers.

Mona Jean loved babies. As the oldest child she loved and cared about babies her entire life. She grew up in Brown County but lived most of her life in Jennings County, where she made numerous friends.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday. Family visitation will begin at 9 a.m.
