MISSION - Evelyn Marie Haight, born June 25, 1937 in Grant County, Wisconsin, to Amos Raymond Bartels and Carrie Olivia (Milham) Bartels passed away peacefully at her home on July 15, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chester Theron (Skip) Haight, brothers Virgil Bartels and LeRoy Bartels, sisters Elizabeth Bartels and Maxine Vance, brothers-in law Kenneth Kolman, Ruben Mohr, Rodney Vance and sister-in-law Sylvia Bartels.
Surviving her are one son, Bobby (Roxie) Blood of Weslaco Texas, one daughter, Rhonda (Thomas) Koepke of McAllen, Texas, and three grandchildren, Renee Nicole Koepke of Denton, Texas, and Cody Jackson Blood and Wyatt Alexander Blood of Weslaco, Texas, sisters Eloise (Lyle) Sieger, Emily Kolman, Margy Mohr, Kathleen (Marvin) Pursell, Susie (Richard) Balousek, brother Junior (Mary) Bartels, many nieces and nephews. Evelyn loved to bowl and also leaves behind an 'extended family' of bowling friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4 PM Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in McAllen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the American Cancer Society , 5413 S. McColl, Edinburg, Texas 78539 or the Susan G. Komen for the Cure , Attn: Gift Management Services, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, Texas 75244.
