VERONA - Susie Irene (Bartels) Balousek, age 72, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 6, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born in Richland Center, Wis., to Amos and Carrie (Milham) Bartels on Nov. 12, 1943, the youngest of 11 children. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Balousek, on Nov. 14, 1964. She loved taking daytrips with Richard, watching the birds in her backyard, quilting, and was an exceptional cook. Together they raised five children, Jackie (Ralph) Kalal, Jerry, Becky (Jim) Winkel, Brian (Staci) and Casey (Becky Powell).
She is further survived by her grandchildren, Kevin, Kimberly, Ralph, Camille, Caleb, Melizha, Austin, Mason and Boden; her sisters, Eloise Sieger and Kathleen (Marvin) Pursell; sister-in-law, Mary Bartels; and many nieces and nephews.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, LeRoy Bartels, Virgil Bartels, Emily Kolman, Margy Mohr, Elizabeth Hendricksen, Maxine Vance, Junior Bartels and Evelyn Haight; five brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and six nephews.
Interment will be at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery.
