LeRoy A. Bartels, age 84, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, February 27, 2006. He was born on August 29, 1921 in Blue River, Wisconsin, the son of Amos R. and Carrie O. (Milham) Bartels. LeRoy was united in marriage to Sylvia Dorn on July 8, 1963 in Madison. She preceded him in death on September 14, 1997. LeRoy worked for many years as a truck driver. He was a member of the Teamster Union. LeRoy was an avid Brewer and Green Bay Packer fan. He is survived by his four children: Sheila (Jack) Cheetham of Yucaipa, CA, Paulette (Ron) Schmidt of Madison, Tom (Toni) Dorn of Madison, and Steve (Becky) Dorn of Lodi, 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, two brothers; Virgil Bartels of Tomah and Junior (Mary) Bartels of Genoa, IL, and seven sisters; Eloise (Lyle) Seiger of Charolette, NC, Emily Kolman of Muscoda, Margy Mohr of Prairie du Chien, Maxine Vance of Muscoda, Evelyn Haight of McLean, TX, Kathleen (Marvin) Pursell of Rock Falls, IL and Susie (Richard) Balousek of Verona. He is also survived by other relatives and friends. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sylvia, daughter, Marlene, a grandson, Jimmy and sister, Elizabeth Huff. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2006, at 12:00 Noon at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., Madison. Memorial visitation will be held at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME on Saturday, March 4, 2006, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be held at Combs Cemetery in Blue River, WI at a later date.
