Funeral Card:

Freda Dietz, daughter of George and Sophia (Hettinger) Batt was born Jan. 30, 1915, on the family farm in Barton Co., south of Russell. Her death occurred May 8, 1990 at Russell Regional Hospital at the age of 75 years, 3 months, 8 days.

Freda lived her early life on the family farm and on Jan. 20, 1946 she was united in marriage to Jacob Dietz at the Bender Hill Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with one daughter, JoAnn.

Her life was filled with the many and varied activities of a mother, housewife and homemaker. She lived all her married life on the farm south of Russell in the Milberger area. She maintained a keen interest in all the farming operations and was devoted to her yard. Taking care of the lawn, yard, and shrubs occupied a great deal of her time. She took great pride in the appearance of her yard and home. She also spent many hours with her needle work, especially crocheting. She loved her family and children, making a special effort to make over all the little children she knew. In her later years she took a great deal of interest in her grandchildren.

Freda was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Russell, and was very active in Sunday morning worship until her health failed. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother Walter Batt.

Survivors are her husband, Jacob of the home; daughter, JoAnn Kilian and her husband Gary of rural Russell; her two grandchildren: Kristi Leigh and Kory J; four brothers, Herman and Robert Batt, both of Russell; and Rudolph and Arthur Batt, both of Galatia; several other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral will be May 10, 1990 at the church with Rev. Michael Kerr officiating. Burial in the Russell City Cemetery. Pohlman's Mortuary in charge.
