Son of Christian and Maria Elizbeth (Hettinger) Batt. At the age of 21, years, came to America and settled in Barton Co. [KS] near Milberger. On March 9, 1910, he was united in marriage to Sophia Hettinger at Lincoln, NE. To this union were born six children all of whom survive. He is survived by his wife Sophia Batt, six children; Herman, Robert, Frieda, Rudolph, Arthur and Walter, all of Barton Co.; except for Frieda and Rudolph who reside in Russell County. Also five grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Interment was in the Russell Cemetery.
