Died at family home east of Ft. Madison, Ia. Sunday, Aug. 16, 1908 at 1:15 p.m., Mrs. Lindsey G. Pitman of dropsy, aged 77 yrs. 4 mos. 25 days. Miss Rhoda Whittaker was born in Illinois on March 21, 1831 and came to Iowa with parents in spring of 1834 to Augusta, Ia. Married July 20, 1851 to Lindsey G. Pitman. Survived by husband and one son, B. Pitman, one daughter Mrs. M. L. Marsh, two sisters Mrs. Isabelle Grubb, Arbella, Mo., and Mrs. Jane Berry, Kansas and four grandchildren.Funeral at residence Tues, Aug. 18, Rev. C. B. Hawkins offic. Buried family cemetery near Pitman Creek.
