The 1870 and 1880 censuses suggest that Elizabeth Whiteaker was born about 1818 in Tennessee. Her parents, John Whiteaker and Dorcas Campbell, were living in the Cave Springs area of Claiborne County, Tennessee at that time. Elizabeth married George Hepner on December 13, 1835 in Des Moines County, Territory of Michigan (Iowa). They had 7 children. Mr. Hepner died April 4, 1857 in Mills County, Iowa. Elizabeth later married William G. Boyce on April 3, 1870 in Mills County, Iowa. It is not known what happened to Mr. Boyce but Elizabeth Hepner appears in the 1880 census with her son-in-law C. C. Dispaine, her daughter Elvira Dispaine and their children in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. It can be said that Elizabeth took back her Hepner name after Mr. Boyce was gone and that she died after 1880. Elizabeth is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Plattsmouth, Nebraska along with her daughter Elvira Despain, her son-in-law C. C. Despain and her granddaughter Stella M. Persinger.
